Stylish St Audries Park wedding: champagne, conga lines and Cooper

A bride and groom walk down the aisle with confetti thrown at them, captured beautifully by a talented St. Audries photographer.

Another gorgeous wedding day, and yet another gorgeous wedding venue to show you – we’re spoiled for choice around here aren’t we? Alanna and Patrick had a beautiful wedding at St Audries Park earlier this year, and we were lucky enough to be the ones shooting it. If you’re considering a St Audries Park wedding, or perhaps you’ve already booked it and are looking for a Somerset wedding photographer to shoot it, then you can see it in all of its glory below.

St Audries Park wedding venue

Before we get onto the absolute dreamfest that was Alanna and Patrick, let’s talk about the setting: St Audries Park wedding venue.

St Audries Park is a beautiful Georgian manor house set within 100 acres of not only rolling hills but a deer park: so basically it’s a fairytale destination. It overlooks the Quantock Hills and the Bristol Channel, but that’s if you can tear your eyes away from the inside of the venue, with elegant rooms and grandeur through every door. Luckily, Alanna and Patrick’s wedding day was a roasting summer’s day, so they got to make the most of both!

Heartfelt family moments

As well as being a total feast for the eyes, Alanna and Patrick’s St Audries Park wedding tugged on the heartstrings too. They’d made sure to include their family and loved ones in so many different ways throughout the day that it was a total privilege to capture. For example, no-one had seen Alanna’s dress – not even her Mum – so Deb helped her into it, being extremely careful with the silk neckline. This made the first look with both her Mum and Dad even more emotional than usual (and they’re usually pretty emotional anyway!)

Patrick’s 10 fully tuxed up groomsmen and Alanna’s 4 bridesmaids all brought the party to proceedings, but the star of the show was their little boy Cooper, who was dressed in a mini tux and looking exceptionally cute.

Wedding ceremony in the orangery

Wedding ceremonies at St Audries Park take place in the Victorian Orangery, a stunning, airy room filled with natural light. Alanna and Patrick chose to accentuate this with a beautiful white floral arch that echoed the shape of the coving at the top of the aisle. With no uber bright decor colours, it meant the beauty of the room could speak for itself. (Alanna and her bridesmaids’ walk to the ceremony was equally magical, as they got to walk through the gardens to get there from the bridal prep room.)

Such a gorgeous room demanded a gorgeous ceremony, and Alanna, Patrick and their loved ones certainly delivered with emotional readings. Plus, would you believe that Patrick wasn’t keen on his picture being taken initially?

Drinks and games on the lawn

After a confetti throw exit from the ceremony, it was time for celebratory drinks on the lawn (and chocolate-covered strawberries, which are such a good idea for a drinks reception.) Alanna and Patrick had also sourced some lawn games for their guests whilst they mingled, although many of the females in attendance were keeping their eye on the bouquet toss. A magician was roaming around to amaze and impress everyone, too, whilst a saxophonist soundtracked the hour. (Not just any saxophonist, either: Kevin Rey, who’s played for people like Phil Collins, Mary J Blige, Usher, Take That, Lionel Richie, and Chaka Khan. No biggie…)

Check out their order of the day, too, which featured actual, antique-looking clocks displaying the time of each element of the day – how cool!

Elegant wedding breakfast ending in a conga line

Patrick’s brother was MCing the day, and with one very well-delivered whistle everyone was rapt and paying attention to the speeches. Alanna and Patrick sat in front of the floral arch, which had been moved from the ceremony to the reception, where a neon white sign reading “The Hughes” hung underneath it.

This monochrome vibe continued through their St Audries Park wedding breakfast, with more tall floral arrangements, elegant calligraphied stationery, and a white-on-white cake, where all the detail was revealed using texture. However, don’t be deceived: the meal also featured singing waiters (want to see another wedding with singing waiters? Check out Darcy and Nathan’s here) and a conga line snaking through the grand building too! Doo doo doo…

Fun reception

The fun didn’t stop there, either. Alanna changed into a different, equally stunning dress for the party portion of the evening. As well as dancing and drinking, guests got to enjoy Alanna and Patrick’s audio guestbook, where you can ring a number and leave a voicemail – how cute is that as a memento?

Relaxed portraits

And of course – you didn’t think we’d forgotten, did you? Throughout the day we took Alanna and Patrick for a couple of wanders, so that we could take some portraits of them in the grounds and inside the beautiful building too. We took some with Cooper, some just the two of them, making sure that they were relaxed and enjoying it the whole time. Then, we finished off with an F1-style champagne spray at the end of the wedding: an iconic way to end an iconic day!
