Spotlight – Meet one of the best Bristol wedding DJs, Kieran Clarke Entertainment

When you think of a wedding DJ, what do you think of? For a lot of people, we know it’s going to be like the DJ from Love Actually, who’s a little bit icky and a whole lot of cringey. But that’s because you haven’t seen the brilliant Kieran Clarke in action, one of our fave suppliers to recommend as Bristol wedding photographers.

We’ve worked with Kieran at loads of our favourite venues, including Coombe Lodge, Clevedon Hall and Priston Mill, and love the incredible energy he always brings to our couples’ days.

Though you can usually find him behind it, today we thought we’d turn the spotlight on Kieran to get to know him a bit better, and show you why you should book him as your Somerset wedding DJ…

First things first…Fat Boy Slim or Pete Tong?

Being a Radio One fan it’s defo Pete Tong! Although Pete Tong is actually the same age as my Dad and I have always said to couples never have anyone the same age as your Dad DJ at your Wedding…I’ll be honest, on this one occasion I would allow Pete Tong to DJ at my wedding!

How old were you when you first became a DJ?

I’ve always been involved with music from a young age. It all started when I was involved with the Sound Tech team for our school drama performance, then progressed from there…at the age of 14 I started DJing at kids’ parties, and I even DJed at my own school prom! I then set up Kieran Clarke Entertainment at the Age of 19…and now I’m 33 years old (Yikes!) (That Yikes was from Kieran, not from us!)

Classic question to ask a DJ…all time favourite tune?

I literally can’t answer this question, I have so many songs that I love! So instead, these are the three artists/bands who I listened to yesterday, according to my Spotify list…

Sam Fender
The Who
Mumford & Sons

And another one…what was the first record you ever bought?

A cd with the words spice girls on it.

RECORD!! – cut me a little bit of slack, I know I look old for my age! It was a cassette tape, and as shocking as this sounds I still have it. I promise it was an unwanted birthday present…Spice Girls!

What’s your USP?

I’m forever being told by other Somerset wedding suppliers that our team of DJs really know how to get the party started from the get go…and considering it’s our job to provide entertainment for such a special day, it kinda helps if you know how to throw a good party. It’s also really important to us as a team that the whole booking process is easy, and that each couple has the confidence that when we arrive, it’s just going to be a laugh and a banging party!

How many people are on your team of Somerset wedding DJs??

I am very lucky to have a great team of lads who all love a party – we have a great team of 7 DJs who proactively DJ for us most weeks. We also can’t forget about Jon & Jordan who run our photo booths.

Do you exclusively DJ at weddings?

Obviously weddings have now become kind of our thing, although we are more than happy to do all occasions. Throughout the year we get asked to do the odd birthday bash or Christmas party, which we are more than happy to do. (Can confirm – Kieran DJed Neil’s 50th birthday party!)

What’s been your most embarrassing moment?

Not going to lie, there’s more than one…

I think every DJ has played the wrong first dance or even called the couple by the wrong surname.

Actually, there was one occasion when I was working with Neil and Deb. I was reversing my van and a guest, and the back of my van, ‘collided’. This resulted in a full glass of red wine covering the guest and a good portion of my van. Both parties shared responsibility, no harm was done and we all had a good laugh about it, especially Neil and Deb!

Which 3 back to back bangers get the dance floor jumping?

Tough tough tough questions! Every event is different, of course, but if I was being a selfish DJ it would be…

Usher – Yeah
Sean Paul – Temperature
Daddy Yankee – Gasolina

As Bristol wedding photographers, some of our couples ask us about saxophonists. Is this something you can supply?

Adding a Sax to play alongside your Dj is a great idea and in addition the above we have 3 Sax players who are also part of our team. Although we supply Sax players we also fully appreciate that it’s not for everyone & may not suit your style of music…but if you fancy it, it will definitely take your wedding evening party to the next level!

We know there is more to Kieran Clarke Entertainment than just DJ-ing – tell us more!

DJing is our main service, although our entertainment doesn’t stop there. We also have lots of other fun additions that we can supply, like garden games, inflatable horse racing (yep, you read that right), photo booths and first dance special effects. Our latest addition is our retro arcade tables, which are great fun!

To help you decide the best entertainment package for you, we popped together a useful guide.
