LJ & Nick – A beautiful, sunny, Spring coastal wedding at Tunnels Beaches
What a setting!
As Somerset based wedding photographers, we’re lucky to work all across the South West, but there’s something we always look forward to about heading to North Devon’s stunning coastline. Nick and LJ’s April wedding at Tunnels Beaches had everything we love about a coastal celebration — dramatic sea views, brilliant sunshine, and a couple who made the whole day feel completely their own.
Tunnels Beaches is one of those venues that needs no dressing up. Carved into the cliffs with private beaches below and the Atlantic stretching out ahead, it’s a genuinely spectacular backdrop for a wedding. For Nick and LJ, it was the perfect fit.
The ceremony at Tunnels Beaches was everything you’d want from a coastal wedding. Open sky, sea air, and a stunning natural setting that did all the talking.
But the moment that really got everyone going? Halfway through the ceremony, guests broke into a full-throated rendition of *500 Miles* by The Proclaimers. LJ’s family is Scottish, and it was a brilliant, joyful nod to her roots — the kind of moment that gets everyone on their feet and sets the tone for the rest of the day. Genuinely one of the best ceremony moments we’ve had the pleasure of photographing.
The weather played its part too. The sun was out in full force, the light was gorgeous, and the whole thing felt relaxed and full of warmth.
After the ceremony, guests settled into the celebrations in the way that only works when the sun is shining and the setting is this good. Good food, good drinks, and people genuinely enjoying each other’s company — that’s what it’s all about, and this wedding had it in spades.
As photographers, these are the moments we love most. Real interactions, genuine smiles, and a day unfolding exactly as it should.
As the light started to drop and golden hour arrived, we headed down towards the water for portraits — and the Devon coastline did not disappoint. The last of the sun hitting the cliffs, the sea glittering in the background, Nick and LJ just being themselves. It was a stunning backdrop to work with.
These are the shots that remind us why coastal weddings are so special.
From a sunny morning getting ready, to a ceremony that had everyone singing, to golden hour on the North Devon coast — Nick and LJ’s day was brilliant from start to finish. Unpretentious, fun, and full of the kind of moments that make wedding photography such a great job.
