Jodie & Ben – A fantastic, if slightly soggy, September Wedding at Elmhay Park.

Full on party people!

Jodie & Ben’s September wedding at Elmhay Park in Somerset was all about people, atmosphere, and having a seriously good time. No fuss, no forced moments — just a relaxed day that quickly turned into a full-on celebration.

Elmhay Park is a brilliant venue for couples who want space to move, good light, and the freedom to do things their own way. Even with the weather doing its thing — and plenty of rain throughout the day — nothing about this wedding felt slowed down. If anything, it added to the energy. Everyone leaned into it and got on with enjoying themselves.

From the start, the vibe was easy and informal. Jodie & Ben were calm, present, and clearly focused on one thing: enjoying the day with their friends and family. They were joined by their French Bulldog, who made a few well-timed appearances and was very much part of the story — a detail that felt completely natural and very them.

The ceremony was straightforward and honest, followed by drinks, conversations, and guests mingling, mostly undercover to avoid the rain. These are the kinds of weddings that work beautifully for documentary photography — nothing staged, nothing over-directed, just real moments happening as they should.

The speeches were a real highlight. Emotional without being heavy, genuinely funny without trying too hard. The room shifted between laughter and quiet moments, and it all felt very true to the people standing up to speak. Those reactions — the laughs, the glances, the timing — are always some of the most telling parts of a wedding day.

As the day rolled into evening, it became clear that this was always going to be more about the party than the details. And once it got going, it didn’t stop. The dance floor filled quickly and stayed full. No hesitation, no easing into it — just people ready to celebrate properly, rain or not.

Jodie & Ben, thanks for having us along to document your wedding at Elmhay Park. A relaxed, no-nonsense day with great people, a lot of energy, and one very well-behaved French Bulldog.

If you’re planning an Elmhay Park wedding or a laid-back Somerset wedding where the focus is on real moments and a good party, days like this are exactly why documentary wedding photography works so well.
